Hexahydro-1,3,5-Tris(hydroxyethyl)-S-Triazine  is a triazine derivative contained in cutting fluids. It is a formaldehyde releaser.Hexahydro-1,3,5-tris(hydroxyethyl)-s-triazine is an amine and an alcohol. Amines are chemical bases. They neutralize acids to form salts plus water. These acid-base reactions are exothermic. The amount of heat that is evolved per mole of amine in a neutralization is largely independent of the strength of the amine as a base. Amines may be incompatible with isocyanates, halogenated organics, peroxides, phenols (acidic), epoxides, anhydrides, and acid halides. Flammable gaseous hydrogen is generated by amines in combination with strong reducing agents, such as hydrides.

It also is used as H2S scavenger. As a desulfurizer, 1,3,5-Triazine can be directly put into the desulfurization process. For high-sulfur crude, the advised amount to use is 0.3%~0.5%.

As a biocide,Triazine can be used alone or in combination with other fungicides. The scope of application is as follows.

*Preservation of industrial products: such as metalworking fluids, adhesives, industrial additives, polymeric dispersants, and lubricants.

*Paper industry biocides: preservation of additives and bulk pulp for paper mills.

*Water treatment, oilfield biocides: Circulating water biocides and algaecides, preservation of drilling fluids and oilfield additives.
