1. Chemical Composition

PHMB is the hydrochloride salt of polyhexamethylene biguanide, composed of an average of 12-16 biguanide groups connected by hydrophobic hexamethylene segments, forming a cationic polyelectrolyte structure. Its molecular formula is (C8H17N5)n.xClH, and its molecular weight is approximately 213.32 (monomer repeating unit).

PHMB maintains its antimicrobial activity in the presence of hard water, organic matter, and high temperatures, overcoming the vulnerability of traditional disinfectants (such as chlorine) to environmental factors.

1. Medical
