Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid (ATMP) 95% 



Amino Trimethylene Phosphonic Acid (ATMP) 95% is a highly effective organic phosphonic acid water treatment agent. Its core characteristics and advantages can be summarized as follows:



Physical and Chemical Properties


Appearance and Form: White crystalline powder, purity ≥95%, easily soluble in water, highly hygroscopic, and easy to transport and store.

Molecular Structure: Molecular formula: N(CH₂PO₃H₂)₃, molecular weight: 299.05. Contains three phosphonic acid groups, which impart strong chelating ability.

Stability:

Thermal Stability: Decomposition temperature reaches 212°C. Scale inhibition is significant below 200°C, making it suitable for high-temperature environments (such as boiler water and heat exchange systems).

Chemical Stability: Stable within the pH range of 2-12. Decomposition may occur in strongly acidic conditions (pH < 2), but excellent performance is achieved under neutral and alkaline conditions.

Hydrolytic Stability: Resistant to hydrolysis in water, ensuring long-term stability.



Core Functions


1. Scale Inhibition:

* Chelation: Forms stable complexes with metal ions such as calcium, magnesium, and iron, preventing inorganic salt deposition. It is particularly effective against calcium carbonate scale.

* Lattice Distortion: Interferes with crystal growth, promoting the formation of small, easily dispersed crystals, thereby inhibiting scale formation at the root.

* Low-Threshold Inhibition: Effectively inhibits scale at low concentrations (1-10 mg/L), resulting in high economic efficiency.


2. Corrosion Inhibition:

* Metal Surface Film Formation: At high concentrations (e.g., 20-60 mg/L), it forms a protective film with Fe²⁺, Zn²⁺, and other materials, slowing corrosion.

* Chloride Ion Tolerance: Can withstand high concentrations of chloride ions (residual chlorine must be controlled to <1 mg/L), inhibiting direct chloride corrosion on metals.


3. Dispersibility: 

Excellent dispersion of scales such as calcium carbonate, preventing precipitation and aggregation.

1. Industrial Water Treatment:

* Circulating Cooling Water Systems: Prevents scaling and corrosion in large facilities such as thermal power plants and refineries, extending equipment life.

* Boiler Water Treatment: Reduces boiler scaling, improves thermal efficiency, and reduces energy consumption.

* Oilfield Reinjection Water: Removes harmful ions from injection water, reduces damage to underground rock formations, and improves oil recovery efficiency.


2. Textile Printing and Dyeing:

As a metal ion chelating agent, it prevents color change caused by dyes binding to metal ions, improving product quality.


3. Metal Surface Treatment:

Used in metal cleaning, electroplating pretreatment, and other fields, it removes surface impurities and prepares for subsequent processes.


4. Other Industries:

* Catalytic Cracking and Hydrocracking: Used as a metal passivator in refineries to improve catalyst stability.

* Reverse Osmosis Systems: Prevents membrane surface scaling and extends membrane life.
