MethylParaben, Also known as methyl paraben or methylparaben, it is a commonly used preservative. It is a white crystalline powder or colorless crystal with a slight pungent odor, easily soluble in alcohols, ethers, and extremely slightly soluble in water. Its boiling point is between 270-280 ºC.
MethylRaben is mainly used as a fungicide and preservative in organic synthesis, food, cosmetics, and medicine, and is also used as a feed preservative. Due to its phenolic hydroxyl structure, MethylRaben has stronger antibacterial properties than benzoic acid and sorbic acid. Its mechanism of action includes disrupting the cell membrane of microorganisms, denaturing proteins within the cell, and inhibiting the activity of respiratory and electron transfer enzyme systems in microbial cells.
