Name: 3-Methoxypropylamine
CAS: 5332-73-0
Chemical formula: C4H11NO
Appearance: Colourless transparent liquid
3-Methoxypropylamine : 3-Methoxypropylamine (MOPA) is a widely used primary amine compound, mainly used as a mineral flotation agent, with higher selectivity for iron ore flotation than ordinary surfactants. In addition, 3-methoxypropylamine can be used as an important intermediate in the synthesis of dispersed dyes such as turquoise blue S-GL, and can also be widely used in metal corrosion inhibitor formulations, accounting for 5-15% of the total mass of the formulation. Corrosion inhibitors are gradually being promoted and applied in the petrochemical industry, making 3-methoxypropylamine have good application prospects.
MOPA is a clear, colorless to faintly colored liquid. It typically has an ammonia like odor. It has properties typical of primary amines and is miscible with water, ethanol, toluene, acetone, hexane and other standard solvents.

Names | Methyl 3-Methoxyacrylate |
MF | C5H8O3 |
Purity | >99% |
Appearance | Colorless liquid |
3-Methoxyacrylate(MOPA ) can be used to synthesize disperse dye 60# Blue, antistatic agent, and surfactant. MOPA can be used as a corrosion inhibitor in steam boiler production, especially in condensation systems, which can effectively inhibit the acid corrosion caused by carbon dioxide in condensate sections. MOPA can also be used as a cereal protectant, wetting agent, and catalyst in the production of polyurethane foam and epoxy resin. MOPA is also an advanced organic solvent, that is used for pharmaceutical intermediates, dye intermediates, petroleum anti-corrosion, and cleaning agents.
As a corrosion inhibitor: In the production of steam boilers, especially in condensing systems, methoxypropylamine can effectively inhibit acidic corrosion caused by carbon dioxide on the condensate section.
Other applications: Methoxypropylamine is also used as a grain protectant, emulsifier, wetting agent, as well as in the production of pharmaceuticals and dyes.
In addition, methoxypropylamine is used in the synthesis of specific dyes, such as dispersed emeraldine S-GL (i.e. dispersed orchid 60#). It is also used in the synthesis of antistatic agents and surfactants and as an advanced organic solvent.
Please note that although Methoxypropylamine has many applications, it needs to be used in accordance with relevant safety regulations and operating procedures to prevent adverse effects on humans and the environment. For specific application requirements, it is recommended to consult experts in the field or specialised literature for more accurate and detailed information.
MOPA should be considered hazardous, having the potential to cause eye burns, skin irritation, and allergic skin reactions.
