1.1 Initiation of Monomer Polymerization

In monomer polymerization processes, it can decompose to generate free radicals at a moderate temperature range of 60-100℃, promoting the rapid polymerization of monomers to form high-molecular polymers. As a core additive for synthesizing basic materials such as plastics (e.g., polystyrene), resins (e.g., acrylic resin), and rubber, it directly affects the polymerization efficiency and the quality of finished products.


1.2 Cross-Linking Modification

It is used for the cross-linking treatment of polyolefin materials like polyethylene and polypropylene. By enhancing the bonding strength of molecules within the material, it significantly improves the product's heat resistance (e.g., ability to withstand higher operating temperatures), mechanical strength (e.g., tensile and impact resistance), aging resistance (extending outdoor service life), and chemical corrosion resistance (resisting erosion by acids, alkalis, and other media). 2. Hazards


Tert-Butyl Perbenzoate is classified as a hazardous chemical, with its hazards mainly manifested in the following aspects:


2.1 Flammability

It tends to decompose when exposed to high temperatures, open flames, friction, or impact, releasing a large amount of heat and causing combustion. Its vapor may form an explosive mixture when mixed with air.


2.2 Oxidizability

As a strong oxidant, it may undergo violent reactions when in contact with reducing agents, acids, alkalis, metal powders, and other substances, and may even lead to combustion or explosion.


2.3 Irritation and Corrosiveness

It is highly irritating to the skin, eyes, and respiratory tract. Direct contact may result in skin burns, as well as redness and stinging of the eyes; inhalation of high-concentration vapor may cause respiratory discomfort.

3. Storage Precautions


To ensure storage safety, the following standards must be strictly followed:


3.1 Storage Environment

It should be stored in a dedicated warehouse that is cool, dry, and well-ventilated, away from ignition sources and heat sources. The warehouse temperature must be controlled below 30℃, and direct sunlight should be avoided.


3.2 Isolated Storage

It is strictly prohibited to store it together with hazardous chemicals such as reducing agents, acids, alkalis, metal powders, and flammable liquids. Clear isolation signs and safety warning signs should be set up in the warehouse.


3.3 Packaging Requirements

The original packaging must be kept sealed and intact during storage to prevent damage and leakage, and to avoid contact between the product and air, which could trigger decomposition.


3.4 Warehouse Management

The warehouse should be equipped with appropriate fire-fighting equipment (e.g., dry powder fire extinguishers, carbon dioxide fire extinguishers). Smoking and the use of open flames are strictly prohibited in the warehouse, and operators must wear protective gear (including protective clothing, protective gloves, and goggles).


3.5 Transportation and Handling

During handling, it should be loaded and unloaded with care to avoid violent collision, friction, or inversion. Transport vehicles must comply with the standards for hazardous chemical transportation and be equipped with corresponding protective facilities and emergency treatment equipment.
